Some reasons why corporate architecture cannot be called ugly
1.
Important events in recent Croatian architecture have been increasingly presented to the public as the following story: when his business picks up, when he has many meetings with foreign partners in his city, and when he gets in contact with politicians, the rich entrepreneur commissions the design of his office building from an architect. The latter panders to his simple tastes and ambitions of exploitation, betrays his calling and builds temples to the newfangled elite, fanning its lowly feelings like a pop singer. Then we hear the voice of the architects and critics who seem not to be overwhelmed by the commercial architecture for the masses, describing its fruits as bland, overgrown, ugly corporate buildings.
